Syberia, an RPG game that gets praised in two reviews at Just Adventure: http://www.justadventure.com/Reviews.shtm#S, is looking like it might find its way to my harddrive very soon...
One of the two reviews bluntly states it as the best PC game ever... :P But besides that, I think this might be a winner... Has anyone played it?

Yeah it's nice but don't expect it to be the next TLJ! The acting can sometimes get wooden abit. But the character detail and poly count will blow you away, it's almost like Resident Evil Zero for the Gamecube.

I've played Syberia, and found the story entertaining, and animation and backgrounds absolutely amazing, but the main character wasn't as interesting as April Ryan. Some of the conversations between characters were really repetitive/unnecessary and the dialogue not the greatest. Syberia II is due to come out this fall and is supposed to address some of the few complaints people had with Syberia. I'm looking forward to it; Syberia was the first adventure game I ever played, and what got me hooked on them.

Hehehe, it's not great but that's a first attempt of mine at doing a "review" of sorts, more like an essay, based on a comparison between TLJ and Syberia.
Feedback is appreciated .......... lol, don't worry, I'm not quitting my day job. :)

Syberia is really beautiful, it's just got mindblowing graphics, and the music is fantastic!But...
NOTHING(!) compares to TLJ, as said before, Syberia's main character, Kate Walker, is pretty uninteresting, I really think April is a bigger mystery, and we really get to see more sides of her personality than we do with Kate.
TLJ is so full of magic and mystery, and the fact that there is two worlds doesn't really help... and that's one of the main factors in my love for TLJ, it's so dark, exciting and mysterious, of course Syberia can be like this sometimes, but TLJ just is a hundred times more like that anyway.
But Syberia is very pretty, very fascinating and there are many creative puzzles and a very nice story, so I recommend you to check it out!:)

Syberia ending is like a good movie scene, but TLJ in whole is like Cortez favourite moving pictures :).
In all one can some similarity....

an RPG ?? eee...maybe you mean other game....as I remember Syberia is an adventure game....
Syberia is a great ADV game , nice graphics and all the rest , but there's no IT in Syberia....I think that in TLJ there were many more mysteries , but still Syberia is on second place at by list :) First is TLJ....

I loved Syberia but the main character was abit bland compared to April. I felt that TLJ was very engaging. You felt for the characters in the game. You don't see that everytime.

I had gotten Syberia because of the talk on here and tried it out. It was pretty good, but not as good as TLJ. I am going to try the 2nd Syberia when it comes out . I can't wait for TLJ 2 to come out. :)
Syberia isnt so good as TLJ. Main character is "death". April is talking about world - she lives. But Kate Walker is snob. She is cold and dialogs inst good...
TLJ is winner! ;)

That's too bad :(
" ... Syberia's main character, Kate Walker, is pretty uninteresting, I really think April is a bigger mystery, and we really get to see more sides of her personality than we do with Kate."
I think this is one of the drawbacks to Syberia. I guess it's the disjointed feeling with not know enough of the character and the character's relevance to the story. I know she's a lawyer and such but it's like she magically appeared along with these robots (automotons.. whatever  ).

Yep, Syberia is more towards the real world, while TLJ is fantasy!

I actually think TLJ has some pretty realistic elements... It might just be that the worlds are made to be very alive and plauzible... but for real now: Syberia can't be compared to TLJ.

I agree. TLJ's plot is without a doubt much better. However, the graphic side of Syberia is much better (after all, Syberia was released a few years later). I enjoyed both of the games, but TLJ takes the first place due to the excellent plot. I'm still glad though that projects such as TLJ and Syberia are actually hapening and that the advanutre hasn't died after Lucasarts and Sierra stoped making decent games. Cheers! :)

...well at first i was pretty high on playing Syberia...and got, installed it, and played it for a day. I passed the first Cd in a day (8 hours), an will play soon the rest. I must say that its... nice. The Grafik is indeed amazing, no comment on that. High detailed backgrounds, and so on. But i must say that Syberia couldn't give the feeling that gave me TLJ...at least not the part that i played. TLJ was brilliant from the beginning till the confuse end...
As for Syberia, the puzzels aren't to though, and they don't need much work either. In TLJ you always had to run arround.
And in TLJ, you where staying for longer periods of time in a scene, so that you coud take a better look at the Background. In some scenes, whee i had a lack of ideeas, i had nothing to do but to admire the background. There are very few of those scenes in Syberia though.
And if i come to think about TlJ, i can only remember that i kept smileing all day long when i passed half the game. ...that is not the case here in Syberia. Here i just say: "Grate, lets see whats next!"
What i tried to explain is that there is a feeling, but that it is not so intense as in TLJ.
...phew...i'm done! :)
