Hi all, first time posting. I'm having a problem with Dreamfall crashing at any given time. Usually within 5 minutes of playing. I get the strange colors then the screen goes black. I have to reboot my system.
Here's what i've tried so far.

1. Updated my Creative Soundblaster Audigy ZS drivers.
2. Updated DirectX 9.0c
3. I've used Nvidia drivers 84.21, 81.98
4. I've tried evga's latest drivers... 84.56

My specs are:
3.4 ghz intel chip
intel 865perl motherboard
2 gig ram
evga 6800gt 256 meg
creative audigy zs sound card
windows xp pro with sp2

I also tried doing a repair on the game but still get the crashes. Only thing I haven't done is uninstall and reinstall Dreamfall. Other than the crashes, Dreamfall looks great and also sounds good. I've had no problems with other games much more system demanding in the last year or so. Kinda stumped on this one though. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try the drivers I linked to in my own similar thread below. Maybe they'll fix you'rs up just like mine. I'm now running at full details with no errors.

To me that sounds either like an overheating graphics card, or a faulty video RAM chip (few games actually use more than 128MB VRAM).

Does the same thing happen if you put all the graphics settings at minimum (interesting to know, for troubleshooting purposes)?

Try removing the side of your computer to see if the increased airflow makes any difference at all.

There is one more driver you could try if you wish. 84.43 beta, tweaked. It includes an automatic driver cleaner utility.

Have you got the latest Intel Inf chipset drivers installed?

Does it happen even if you just leave Zoë standing once you've loaded the game?

Thanks for the reply.

Lestaticon: Are the tweaked drivers fairly simple to install? With the both of us using the same video card, hopefully that might be the answer to my problem.

HeinzHarald: Thanks for the suggestions. I'm constantly playing games more demanding than Dreamfall without a single problem whatsoever.
I always leave my side cover off for added ventilation.
I don't believe I am using the latest inf file from intel. I will check on that, thanks.
Dreamfall only crashes when there is movement. On one of my crashes, I had to leave the computer for about 5 minutes. The instant I pushed a movement key for Zoe, the game crashed. Very puzzling to me.

Lestaticon and I linked to the same drivers. They are extremely easy to use. Cleans the old drivers out automatically.

Only when there is movement? Interesting.

Do you use a gamepad? If you do does the same thing happen if you unplug the gamepad and use the keyb/mouse to move after five minutes?

I'm only using the mouse/keyboard for control. No gamepads used. Just for the heck of it, I tried using an old Nvidia driver...version 77.77. Dreamfall still crashed, but it did crash this time without any movement like I previously stated.
I tried installing the drivers you had mentioned by 3dguru but the first time the clean up portion didn't work. Then I tried without cleaning and was given " A Device Not Found Error". Not sure how to eliminate that from happening. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

Either the installer is buggy on some systems, or your drivers aren't being properly uninstalled/installed.

You could try running Driver Cleaner Pro and clean out your nVidia drivers, reboot, then install the drivers from guru3d using that cleaning utility as well.
