I am wondering, where are you going to buy your copy of Dreamfall: The longest journey?
I am going to buy my copy of Dreamfall via an online shop :)

I'm probably going to go to EB Games or Game Stop since I'd be more likely to get it the day it comes out that way. Otherwise I'd order it from Amazon.com

Yes, me too
I'll probably buy it in the local games store. Or online from the site of that store.

I'll probably buy it from the local EB, although we've got two other places in Aus: Games Wizards, and JB Hi-Fi - the latter of which have started stocking big profile PC games (they normally do console stuff).
Either way, I'd say we'll be left until last in Australia. It's what comes from living in the arse-end of the world; nobody cares about us. *sniff*

I'll be buying from a local shop. From what I've seen from the pre-orders, shipping can be almost as expensive as the game itself.

The place with the lowest price, probably CDON.com, if they have the norwegian version and not just the swedish one.

to be honest, im going to read some reviews, and if it gets less than like 5 of 6 or 90 % (of 100) im going to download it. and if it's nearly as good as the first ill buy it. Because i can't drop norwegian speak.
PLEASE No CHEAP speak. Make the game in NORWEGIAN and then translate, dont hire some cheap-ass guy like EA does and then get some suck-ass tranlation. That would make me a sad panda.
This is a question Ragnar answered at his blog:
please answer my question: will u supervise the translation to norwegian?
No. Unfortunately, I dont have time for anything except the English-speaking version. Qualified people are handling it, however, and Dag Scheve - my co-writer - is involved with the translation. So it should be good.
It wouldn't be logical to first write the game in Norwegian and then translate it to English. The English version will serve as a basis for other translators, not only the Norwegian ones. And I think a large part of the buyers will buy the English version.

But why did Funcom realase TLJ in norway first? And than rest of the world?
(TLJ was writen in english first and than translate to norwegian, The norwegian verson have many spelling misstakes! )
Maybe because they were a relatively small company back then, it was more convenient to first release the game in their home country.

I'm gonna buy it at the first decent shop (either online or local) that offers it..
If it's the dutch version or the english one ... it wouldnt matter.
If a shop like gamestop or ebgames has it first I'm importing it right away cause i know from gamestop they used to work with ign and I use to buy gamecube games and you get an UPS tracking number and it's here in 2 days.. I don't care about the import cost if that means I an even have it 2 or 3 weeks earlier :)...

I don't care about the price. I'll buy the game from the closest shop. Breake all speed limits, and get the game loaded on my puter. *shaking*

Amazon Prime means I get free 2-day shipping, so that'll probably be the route I take.

I'll probably buy it at either my local Best Buy or Gamestop.
I'm definitely getting it on day one.

I'll buy Dreamfall from wirtus.pl (or cenega.pl). Those are good, online shops.

I'll buy it at my local bookstore/game shop, but if they don't order it for "the masses", I'll ask them to order it for me from the UK. They also did that with TLJ.

I'll surely buy it on a local store...
I think in PC City or El Corte Ingles (Spanish superstore).
Greetings.
PD: Anyone know when the game will be released? thanx

I will never buy computer games from online shops again - their return policy for that kind of product isn't exactly good. I'll buy it from an electronics shop in 10 minutes walking distance. If the game won't run, they'll let me return it. That's worth everything. I do speak out of experience. ;)

A wee bit off-topic, I guess, but not too much again.
Is online buying really THAT safe? It seems to me like you're communicating to machines out there, giving away your credit card info, as your personal one. I still like to do it the old-fashion, "Arcadian" way. ;)

I'll buy it from Best Buy or EB games crossing the border in San Diego, (since I live in Tijuana Mexico)

When viewing a website look for a security certificate (sometimes looks like a large gold star). This usually means that all personal data sent off your computer is HEAVILY encripted. Unless the person intersepting your credit card number has access to a NASA supercomputer they'll just end up with a load of useless rubbish. (In other words nobody uses this method)
Another possibility is key loggers which watch what your typing and relay it to a hacker, so, although these are rare, its advisable to download or buy a good virus checker and firewall, but this is allways a good idea anyway.
On a more "on topic" note I have bought lots of stuff from the internet and have had no problems so I'll probably buy this online too.
I will buy it on a local store, on norwegian ofcourse! Or maybe on the internet? I don't know :)

Almost certainly, CompUSA. Normally I'd buy it on Amazon, but with CompUSA, I can run down and get it that day instead of having to wait an ENTIRE EXTRA DAY OR TWO for shipping. And believe me, when Dreamfall comes out, waiting an extra day or two is going to seem like a LONG time.

I'll be first in line at Platekompaniet in Bergen to get the limited edition. Or at least near the front of the line ;)
I'll have to stock up on caffeine pills in case they do a midnight release...
Im probely going to preorder it from softxchange.dk, only danish site with the option to preorder. (so far)

Late post, but I'd buy it at Amazon.ca if they offered it, but as of yet it's not listed as being available, even for a pre-order. Is it being distributed to online sellers like Amazon?

Strange that Amazon.ca doesn't have it listed. It's been on the US Amazon site for quite a while. I'm sure Amazon.ca will have it tho.
Out of curiosity, could you order it from the US? ...or do exchange rates/customs, etc. make it not worth it?

I can order it from the US, but I simply wouldn't do that. It'd be easier for me to pick it up locally, although I tend to avoid EB, if at all possible, due to their increasingly poor service.
No matter. I'll track it down. :)

10 days to release and still hasn't shown up at Amazon.ca (I wrote them a note about it as well, pointing out that it was on Amazon.com). Unless something changes in the next week, guess that will be one potential place out of the running, leaving only the local EB as an immediate source.

I have it preordered from a local store, but I'll cancel that. I feel like waiting for the collector's edition to be made available at the funcom.com store. I just read it's coming soon there. Plus they're giving away some art prints with the order.
I'm a huge fan of TLJ. I've been looking for a continuation of the story for years. I can wait a little longer for the collector's edition. Maybe

Pre-ordered from Funcom - I hope the free art prints are worth the small price premium. At least it's cheaper if you pay in dollars ;)

I'll have to get it at the funcom store since I want the collector's edition. Since they say that the collector's edition will be avialable for pre-order soon(tm) I hope that means we can actually order it so that we get the game by the 20th or so.

I cancelled my amazon preorder when I heard about the collector's edition at the funcom shop. I prefer to buy direct anyway when I want to support a company rather than use a middleman. dunno if that actually DOES anything or not but it's the thought that counts. lol
eagerly awaiting to preorder... :)

I'm getting a tad concerned. I was checking at my local EB today and they had a hard time finding it listed anywhere at all. It wasn't listed in their 'upcoming releases' paper hardcopy (they gave it to me to look at) and looking in the system, it was listed but the SKU had been removed and it was 'not available' for pre-order and there was no evidence that it was ever going to be available.
Guess I'll have to keep looking. With both Amazon.ca and my local EB not listing it, I'm beginning to wonder if there's something wrong with a Canadian distributer of the game. Any thoughts?
[Edit] Ahha! Guess what was added to Amazon.ca today! Um, well, guess you'd guess the right guess. Dreamfall is now available. Woo!

Hi!
Does anyone know if the Limited Edition of Dreamfall (English version) will be available anywhere in Holland?
Hi!

I guess not. The next quote is from the Funcom online store (https://funcom.asknet.com/cgi-bin/show/P14757):
**The Limited Edition will also be available in the Nordic region. Funcom holds the exclusive rights for the Limited edition in all other territories, and you can only buy it here at the Funcom online store!
Ah, okay. Thanks for the info!
Hmmm, think I might just buy the US import version, cause I hate those small packaged versions with manual on disc. The US version has a full box, so I guess is worth a bit higher price.
Plus it's release date is 17/04, and not somewhere in May like the European version. And according to a thread here there are no differences between the US and European version.

Yes, I know one. I've ordered my copy of Dreamfall at www.gameinformer.com - and I will get it tomorrow or the day after. But I live in Germany. The p&p for Germany are USD 19.99; but the fees are different from country to country (from USD 19.99 to USD 65.99) - so I very hope, you live in a "p&p-USD-19.99-country" ;)

Let's see. I ordered the pre-release version from FunCom (just the normal edition), but then learned that it might have the StarForce protection. I checked Amazon, and it said that it could ship to Australia, so I emailed FunCom that if the version they're sending me has StarForce, then don't bother. Now I see that Amazon isn't actually selling DreamFall and more. Instead, it's being done through J&R Music and Computer World. And guess what? They will only ship to the US.
At this rate, I could well be getting the game from Santa!
Bill.
